Dan Adam was born and raised in Pennsylvania. The son of Warren and Janet, he was raised to be inquisitive, creative, and taught to never quit. In high school, he attended several courses teaching creative writing and was encouraged to pursue his creative talents.

After high school, he joined the U.S. Army in order to receive job skill training and money for college. In 2003, he met and married the love of his life, Wendy. Together, they spent the next 20 years living in various locations as the Army reassigned Dan to different positions in other regions.

Dan deployed in 2004 to Iraq, Kuwait in 2007 and 2009, Afghanistan in 2014, and Romania in 2022 and spent a total of four years in various positions in South Korea. Additionally, he deployed on three separate occasions across the United States in response to Humanitarian Aid Missions following Hurricane Katrina in 2005, and Hurricanes Harvey, Irma, and Maria in 2017. He retired from active duty in 2023 at the rank of Master Sergeant. His notable awards include a Bronze Star, four Meritorious Service Medals, and a Joint Service Achievement Medal.

He started writing his first novel in 2019, but it took him three years to finish it while concurrently serving in the Army. In November 2022, he self-published
Leaving Earth, the first in a planned trilogy of sci-fi novels. On 1 July 2023, Dan released the highly-anticipated sequel, New Home. The third novel and conclusion to the trilogy, The Rift, will be released 1 May 2024.
